Elementary School (grades K-6)

Elementary students at MCA utilize a variety of Biblically-integrated curriculum with demonstrated excellence in various disciplines. Muscatine Christian Academy uses a robust reading program designed to encourage strong reading skills. Our math requires memorization of math facts as we seek to help students become proficient in doing mental calculations. Cursive writing is taught as it engages the brain in unique ways and has been proven to bolster writing and reading skills. Our students are instructed in Math, Science, Reading, Writing, Bible, Social Studies, and Language Arts as well as extra curricular classes including: Physical Education, Music, Art, and STEAM. A Spanish language component will be added beginning the spring of 2025.

Muscatine Christian is in the middle of a three year onboarding process with Teaching for Transformation. This pedagogy will help our school community understand and appreciate learning in a way which promotes personal ownership and stewardship. Each of our faculty members are required to work on a “Deep Hope” for their students. This will inform the teaching done in the classroom. Students are expected to take their academic work into the community and do, “real work for real people with real needs.” The deeper learning principles are an essential and exciting part of our educational expectations.

Elementary students meet 5 days/week on campus for the duration of the school year.
