Non-Instructional Application

Before/After School Coordinator

Job summary: 
The Before/After School Coordinator will supervise and assist students before and after school hours by planning engaging activities, providing academic support and ensuring a safe, caring environment for students.

Type of position: 
This is a part time position that is paid on an hourly basis of $16/hr. 
Position can be divided into A.M. or P.M. only positions.
Seasonal position only during school year


Hours of position: 
7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. 
7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays
3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

No morning hours on late start days for school and no afternoon hours on early out days.
Off on regularly scheduled school breaks.

Required Spiritual Qualities

  • Acknowledge Christ as Savior and seek to live life as His disciple.
  • Believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God—our standard for faith and practice.
  • Believe and actively support the school’s Statement of Faith.
  • Demonstrate a desire for spiritual growth as evidenced by his or her prayer life, Bible study, and spiritual outreach to others.
  • Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (Luke 6:40). This includes being committed to God’s biblical standards for sexual conduct.

Required Professional Qualities

  • Be willing to participate in an in-house Biblical training program.
  • Be at least 21 years of age or older
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified (can be organized through MCA upon hiring)
  • Possess a high school diploma or higher education degree.
  • Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the school superintendent.

Essential Job Functions

  • Keep spaces neat and orderly
  • Check students in and out of the program
  • Plan simple activities or games for students to engage in during their time in the program
  • Provide academic support if needed with homework assignments
  • Ensure a safe, caring atmosphere for all students at all times

Office Manager

Job summary:   
The office manager supports Muscatine Christian Academy’s effectiveness by providing competent service and assistance to parents, students and staff as well as general office and bookkeeping duties. The person in this role will have the primary visibility of MCA and needs to be spiritually mature and dedicated to honoring Christ at all times.

Type of position: This is a full-time position during the school year and part-time during the summer which is paid on an hourly basis.

  • Have disciplined time management skills and can manage deadlines well.
  • Have basic bookkeeping and payroll knowledge and/or experience.
  • Have experience with social media and marketing (preferred, not required).
  • Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the school principal.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist the school in functioning efficiently and effectively.
  • Accomplish goals and objectives assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintain high standards of integrity and practice confidentiality with regards to students, families, and staff.
  • Warmly answer the phone, greet visitors, and handle students on a daily basis.
  • Communicate regularly and in a timely manner with school staff and parents.
  • Maintain personnel files.
  • File on time the various reports required by our accreditation agency and or the State of Iowa.
  • Serve as the point person for school technology issues, enrollment/applications, and parent calls to teachers and students
  • Serve as the schools Purchaser and Cashier. This will include being a signer on the school’s checking account.
  • Be certified in First Aid and CPR. Be comfortable with basic first aid duties including administering medication.
  • Record late arrivals, early dismissals and issues passes as needed.
  • Maintain a daily absentee list including calling parents to check on absent students.
  • Verify health records are maintained properly. Ask for forms that are missing.
  • Inventory, store, distribute and procure curriculum as requested.
  • Supervise and maintain all background checks.
  • Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent the school in a favorable, professional and Christ-like manner to the school’s constituency and the general public.
  • Help maintain a clean, attractive, and well-ordered office and school.
  • Communicate openly with the administrator for any needs.
  • Be willing to adjust work hours to meet special school needs.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the administration or classroom teachers.

Job summary:  
The Substitute shall prayerfully assist in helping students develop and mature in mind, body and soul to the praise and glory of God. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the administration or classroom teacher. 

Type of position: This is a part time position that is paid on an hourly basis.

  • Demonstrate a desire for spiritual growth as evidenced by his or her prayer life, Bible study, and spiritual outreach to others.
  • Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (Luke 6:40). This includes being committed to God’s biblical standards for sexual conduct.
  • Have a conviction that God has led him or her to Christian school ministry.

Required Professional Qualities

It is expected that the ​​Substitute will....

  • Have a bachelor’s degree (preferred, not required).
  • Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the school administrator.
  • Be able to teach a lesson plan provided by the classroom teacher, assist teacher in classroom or manage office duties, depending on what substitute position is being filled.
  • Be willing to follow Teaching for Transformation guidelines in the classroom.
