Upper School 
Supervising Teacher

The supervising teacher shall help our Junior High and Senior High students develop and mature in mind, body and soul to the praise and glory of God. This will be done through intentional interaction, prayer, accountability, and leading by example. 

This is a contracted, exempt employee that is paid on a salaried basis.

Required Spiritual Qualities
• Acknowledge Christ as Savior and seek to live life as His disciple.
• Believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God—our standard for faith and practice.
• Believe and actively support the school’s Statement of Faith.
• Demonstrate a desire for spiritual growth as evidenced by his or her prayer life, Bible study, and spiritual outreach to others.
• Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others (Luke 6:40). This includes being committed to God’s biblical standards for sexual conduct.
Evidence of the fruit of the Spirit in dealing with people.
Have a conviction that God has led him or her to work at a Christian School.
• Actively participate in a local Bible-believing church.

Required Professional Qualities

It is expected that the supervising teacher will …
• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college/university.
• Hold the ACSI certification and/or be willing to be certified. This will require participation in an in-house Biblical training program.
• Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the school administrator.

It is expected that the supervising teacher will …
• Demonstrate sensitivity towards staff, parents, volunteers, and children, and an ability to interact effectively with them.
• Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train a child in the way he should go” (Prov. 22:6, NIV).
• Be an enthusiastic visionary, an encourager, and a self-starter with a high energy level.
• Recognize his or her own mistakes and take measures to correct them.
• Be a team player.
• Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, and good taste consistent with school policy.
• A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to living out your faith in all aspects of life.
• Teaching experience, preferably with Jr. High & High school students or in an online setting.
• Proficiency in using online learning platforms, digital tools (e.g., Google Classroom, Zoom), and other educational technologies.
• Ability to think creatively and adapt to the unique challenges of virtual education.
• Strong communication skills and a heart for mentoring young people.
• Build relationships with parents, guardians, administrators, and other key stakeholders.

Spiritual Leadership
• Motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation, and be a Christian witness and role model to them in order to help them grow in their faith.
• Have a conviction that God has led him or her to Christian school ministry in grades 7-12.
• Reflect the purpose of the school, which is to develop students who desire to love God and others, and are academically prepared for God’s unique plan for their lives.
Academic Leadership
• Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Christian philosophy that will help in providing leadership and guidance in the school’s development of and commitment to a Christian worldview
• Be fully integrated with and appreciative of the online educational model we are using.
• Eagerly adopt and integrate Teaching for Transformation pedagogies in the classroom.
• Teach classes as assigned following the prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the administration.
•Ensure the classroom reflects a professional and Christian environment.

Additional Duties or Responsibilities
It is expected that the teacher will …
• Provide leadership in developing and implementing the high school programming in alignment with MCA’s mission to glorify God through academic excellence.
• Facilitate engaging, interactive, and Christ-centered spaces which inspire students to grow academically, spiritually, and personally.
• Mentor and support students by fostering a love for learning and encouraging their academic and spiritual development.
Utilize digital tools and platforms to create dynamic learning experiences and ensure effective communication with students, parents, and staff.
• Monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and adjust instructional strategies to meet individual needs.
• Implement MCA’s “Deeper Learning” pedagogy by utilizing our partnership with Teaching for Transformation.
• Collaborate with MCA administration to evaluate program success and recommend improvements.
• Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-ordered classroom.
• Participate in the end-of-year school closing process, such as the inventorying of textbooks, furniture, and equipment.
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the administration.
